What industries spend the most on information technology?
According to a July 2008 report by Gartner, the financial services industry spends more on information technology than any other vertical market. Gartner forecasted worldwide IT spending by financial services firms to grow from $568 billion in 2008 to $593 billion in 2009.
Achieving a distant second place vertical market IT spend was government and public sector with forecasted worldwide IT spending of $434 billion in 2009. The communications industry rounded out the top three with an estimated $380 billion in IT spending.
